Check Space-A eligibility for travel in Asia
Practical guide
At a glance
Space-A eligibility depends on military retirement or the specific permanent-and-total disability category. Seats are released on a standby basis.
Check your traveler category
Military retiree receiving retired/retainer pay: Category VI, including eligible overseas travel; eligible dependents need valid identification and must accompany their sponsor. Gray-area Reserve retiree: restricted geographic rules, not the same worldwide permission. Nonretired veteran with permanent service-connected disability rated total: Category VI, with accompanied dependents, but only the specified U.S. travel segments. Ordinary veteran status or a lesser rating alone does not establish Space-A eligibility.
Exact nonretiree geographic limit
Within CONUS; directly between CONUS and Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam or American Samoa (Guam/American Samoa travel may transit Hawaii or Alaska); or within Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or U.S. Virgin Islands. This is not unrestricted travel between all territories. It does not authorize Japan, Korea, Singapore or Thailand legs. Living in Thailand does not expand eligibility.
